读李敖的文章时，经常看到他引用英国十七世纪诗人约翰·堂恩的一首诗《没有人是一座孤岛》。我也很喜欢这首诗，今早起来找到了这首诗的英文和李敖的译文，一并贴在这里。
有人问：我们这些与杨佳没有关系的人为什么关注杨佳案？我想这首诗就是一个诗意地解答。
No man is an island,
entire of itself;

every man is a piece of the continent,
a part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less,
as well as if a promontory were,
as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were:
any man’s death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind,

never send to know for whom the bells tolls;
it tolls for thee.
